Finishing One ... but not yet !

  We are almost there ! Wellzito syncronized the files but the voice was not good enough ... in fact in some peaks of the music it was too loud, and as the camera's mic is weak, the sound "vibrates".
  I recorded some other versions, trying different positions of the camera while singing and sent to Wellzito ... I analyzed briefly the mp3 files on Mixcraft and I though at least one of them is ok. I record in .MPG and extract the sound from the video using the audio extractor.
  Other things that we can add is a bass (gonna see if the sound looks good when I record an acoustic guitar) and add some backing vocals.

Novos recursos

Computer: the secret for a good recording

Yesterday I formated my Pc in order to install just the tools that I use on our recordings. It is important to have an enhanced machine, without unecessary applications and also a good sound board, memory and a lot of space in disk.

One tip: keep an image of the Operational System and working tools (http://www.symantec.com/pt/br/norton/ghost) at the starting point. Burn a dvd and keep it safe to use in case of hd crashes or software issues. Recover exactly what you have is essential to the project maintenance. For those Who works with musical production must be concerned on the minimal details.

Some professionals go beyond that and prefer a work station install dedicated to that, without any other install but the main tools. No extra resources allowed as IE, system tools: just the 40 MB of RAM !

Ok let's back to work.

Work updates ... U2's song: One

Recently we've being working on a version of this U2 song: One

The ideia was:
01) Wellzito records a drum sequence;
02) I listen to that recording the acoustic guitar (using my camera, that has a nice mic :P);
03) I send the file to Wellzito, he syncs and sends me back;
04) I record the voice as the same way as the acoustic guitar and send to Wellzito;
05) Wellzito syncs everything ...

We've being doing a couple times since last week, because we always find an issue with the recording, but basically this is the process.
In this between I've started to use the Mixcraft software (very simple by the way) and trying my own syncs, but nothing compares to Wellzito's ! lol !

We, as a team, got the compromise of finishing this song this weekend ... let's see the results !

By the way for those who don't know the song:

First work together !

First work together !

Works that cross the Equator line !

To start today I'm gonna work on Qjo's version of Walkin Blues.

This song is interesting because is so old, and the curious life of its composer, Robert Johnson, that started life as a crop labor and became the Blues legend.

Even more curious is the fact that his career just lasted 2 years, with 29 recorded songs. Just music has that , reborn songs like these, cross generations, frontiers and arrive in countries with other musical cultures.

Play this song is a flash back to MIssissipi, 1931. Although all the issues of that time (racist conflicts for instance) I would like to be born a blues man of those times.Soon we will post the result.
